Student Top & Raphael Vest by Mon Petit Oiseau

Gauze wool knits, the Raphael (top layer) in mustard gives a wonderful pop to the basics. The Student (bottom layer) is a lovely long sleeve lightweight sweater with a mix of neutrals in a stripped Cayenne print. The Student top also sports a square neckline, with a contrasting cotton Liberty print. -see second image. Both styles can be worn alone, or layered beautifully.

Mon Petit Oiseau is a small independent label based in Los Angeles. The designer of the collection, Tracy Wilkinson, a British native, launched the company in September 1999. Tracy grew up in Barnsley, a small coal mining town in Yorkshire. To escape the unpredictable weather during school summer holidays, her family would cross the channel to Brittany, a coastal region in northern France. It was here, during the early to mid seventies that she began to love the sweet simplicity of French style, and what became the inspiration for her collection. Mon Petit Oiseau joined forces with Artists for Amnesty, designing a men‘s, women’s and children’s tee shirt to raise money and increase awareness for the 'End Violence Against Women Campaign', a worldwide campaign calling for a stop to oppression and abuse of women. The designer has a loyal following, including such celebrities as Mischa Barton, Zooey Deschanel, Lucy Liu, Mary Louise Parker, Shiva Rose McDermott and Reese Witherspoon.
