Alta Walker Painting

Alta Walker Painting Art

Paintings By Alta Walker

Almost too good to be true. -textile inspired paintings by local artist Alta Walker. With her grid/weave paintings Walker makes "fabric" out of paint, building it up on wood. "As I lay one horizontal line and then a vertical mark across it, I am creating strength. Each mark creates tension and thus another part of the painting calls out for something to oppose it. It's the simplest exercise in problem solving."

"...with the blob paintings, I cut to the chase, skip
landscape as subject, for instance, and focus on the
special marks that I notice naturally occur when
painting with bristle brush. Ironically, those
special marks I've made for their own sake can appear
to be objects, characters, or a bush in a landscape."

All pieces are made with acrylic paint on scraps of certified sustainable wood salvaged from a cabinet maker's scrap pile. - and arrive ready to be hung.
