Q & A With Claire Of Heinui

Angelina: What was your very first job?

Claire: Dressing models at Paris fashion shows when I was 18, and waitressing.

A: How did you end up doing fashion? And what is your favorite part of your work?

C: I fell in love with fashion when I was 6 years-old, and I became obsessed with it. I knew very early on that I wanted to dedicate myself to it, and it just stuck with me over the years. I don't really see myself doing anything else.

My favorite part of it is just how diverse and complete it is. It's the perfect balance of art, business, psychology, craft... Everyday I get to do something different, I never get bored. -Yes! I feel the same!

A: When you get dressed what leads, your heart or mind?

C: I don't overthink it, for better or worse. At the moment I try to keep it toddler-friendly, comfortable shoes, no white pants or dress, no silk, no rare vintage items, no dangling jewelry. For the rest I've decided that I would only wear things that I love, so I got rid of half of my closet.

A: Do you think you use style to connect to the people you want to connect to?

C: Yes! Not in a deliberate way though, but subconsciously, don't we all?

A: When do you feel like the best version of yourself?

C: Pregnant!

A: Something you have yet to figure out?

C: Driving

A: Something you have figured out?

C: To work for myself as if I was doing it for somebody else.

A: Wouldn’t if be weird if…

C: The internet had never been invented; the things I could so with all that time.
