Q & A With Mom & Customer Heather Summers

What are you looking for these days with shoes and clothing?

The older I get the more I find myself reaching for fewer things, investing in higher quality pieces that will last forever. Comfortable, functional, not fussy, but still unique. I’ve been doing a lot of simplifying/wardrobe streamlining over, buying less often and more thoughtfully when I’m able to invest in a forever piece.

Do you collect anything?

We live in a tiny apartment in the city, and I don’t really have room for lots of extra things, but I am trying to slowly build up my collection of ceramics and stoneware. I’m a sucker for a beautiful ceramic mug or bowl!

Do you have a favorite article of clothing and why is it your favorite?

Definitely my Levi jeans. I wear them almost every day; they work with everything, are super comfortable, and make me feel put together even when I’m anything but!

Do you have a penchant for anything ugly?

I love antiquing/thrifting, not sure if that counts as ugly, but I do love things that are weathered and worn.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in a very small town in north Texas. I’m very thankful for my small town upbringing. I feel like it has given me a unique perspective here in New York and I’m thankful for the opportunity to have been able to live in such different places.

What's a favorite plant?

I love a big, lush fiddle leaf fig. We have one in our living room and it always makes me happy!
