Abigail Lewis Beklina Model Interview

Abigail has modeled for Beklina on and off for over 6 years. She's currently living in Santa Cruz after living in Rome the past 4 years. Sweet and wise beyond her years, I always enjoy my time with Abigail. She's a natural born star.

“We tell ourselves stories in order to live” …what is the story you are currently telling about yourself?

Currently I am making an effort not to impose any narrative line upon myself and to just surrender to life’s ambiguities and chaos. I’ve been in a state of limbo for quite sometime now after deciding to quit my job and move away from Rome without knowing exactly where to and what to do next. It’s been easier to just let go and revel in my uncertainty than to try and make sense of it all.

You lived in Rome for almost 4 years....what do you miss most about Rome, and when you were in Rome what did you miss most about Santa Cruz or the states.

I miss Rome’s passionate atmosphere: the intimacy and tactility of the language, the heavy, warm, floral air in the summertime, the romantic decadence of its scattered ruins and narrow cobblestone streets. In comparison, the states, even Santa Cruz, feels sterile and lackluster.

When I am in Rome I miss the efficiency of the the states in general, the access to high quality produce and alternative food options (I am gluten- and dairy-intolerant) in California, and the wild, potent nature of Santa Cruz and the surrounding areas.

What’s the best advice you have been given.

To breath from my diaphragm.

What’s something about being a model that most people would be surprised to know

A lot of the work involves running around a city going to castings / fittings and waiting around. The erratic and inconsistent schedule can be very stressful.
